A view from the front line…

March 2020 suddenly feels like such a long time ago. Back then, for the first time it became apparent that the landscape of weddings was going to change for a good few months, maybe for the whole year. I think it’s fair to say that few imagined the repercussions would last beyond that but here we are, early October as I write, with no idea of when we can expect the end to be in sight. Restrictions of some sort will be in place until at least March according to Downing Street and beyond that who can say? There are too many variables at play to even begin to guess.

From a business perspective 2020 has been a bumpy old ride and it’s been every bit as challenging for my couples. There have been some difficult decisions for sure. Some couples had to postpone whether they wanted to or not, some were able to stick with their original date but with fewer guests, others decided to postpone to a future date to be able to still have a full sized wedding.

This year I have witnessed a lot of resilience and a lot of positivity too. Covid may be a challenge to overcome but it’s not insurmountable and the world keeps turning. Love can’t be put on hold, life can’t be paused indefinitely and there’s many couples out there who are understandably wanting to crack on! The day they say “I do” may not be how they originally envisaged but it will still be absolutely awesome. Having shot a few ‘lockdown weddings’ these past months with 15 or 30 people I can safely report that smaller weddings have all the joy, all the nervous excitement, all the tears and all the emotions of a wedding of any size. A wedding with reduced numbers actually brings benefits of its own as well as a high level of flexibility which many are choosing to embrace. And for those who did have their heart set on a big old knees up there’s always the option to plan a larger scale party with those who can’t attend further down the line.

We are where we are so let’s adapt and move forward – and that means me too! I am a wedding photographer with 10 years experience, I love my job and I’m ready to get out there and work even at short notice. I have plenty of space in my calendar over next few months and as things stand I can only fill the gaps with smaller, intimate weddings. So right now I’m offering some specials rates which will be valid on new bookings for weddings that take place for as long as number restrictions imposed by the government are in place. These prices are a considerable discount on what I’d usually charge so get booked in for your intimate wedding today!

INTIMATE WEDDING RATES:

• 2 hours  £350
• 3 hours  £500
• 4 hours  £650
• 5 hours  £800
• 6 hours  £950
• 7 hours  £1100
• 8 hours  £1250

Price includes:

• A Skype / Zoom consultation ahead of the wedding
• Final delivery of high resolution photos with full rights via an online gallery
• Travel within a 30 radius of Leeds LS8 (75p per mile thereafter)

**EDIT JULY 2021** Now government retrictions around weddings have been lifted, I have reverted to my usual pricing for all fututre bookings.
