Shortly after Christmas I had a long overdue hook up with my photographer buddy Cris Matthews to have a play around with a bit of flash photography. Cris is renowned as somewhat of a flash expert and had a few bits of kit he wanted to experiment with. I keep my flash set up pretty simple and had a few things I wanted to try myself as well as scoping how he approached things. I had a grungy urban location in mind – a former brickworks – and my good friend Jen had been promising to model for me for a while so the plan came together quite naturally.
We honestly couldn’t have chosen a more miserable day. The brickworks is high up on the Pennines the wind whipped through the building all day, with rain lashing down incessantly. This didn’t stop us having a great shoot with both Cris and I getting a good deal out of it. Massive props to Jen for manning up and braving the conditions!
Here’s a few of my photos…
