How many photos can I expect to receive?
For a full day wedding I guarantee a minimum of 350 photos delivered to you as high resolution images on a disc with reprinting rights for personal usage. For portrait sessions the number of photos varies, depending on the nature of the shoot.
Will we get every photo you take?
No. I will take a large number of photos on the day and as part of the creative process will slim this down to the final selection I deliver to you. Those that miss the cut usually do so for a reason!
Do you only offer the full day service? What if we only want you there for part of the day or if our wedding is over more than one day?
Whilst the full day service is my default package I am of course happy to be flexible to meet your requirements. After all, every wedding is different. I am happy to cover just a portion of the day if you prefer, or equally am happy to shoot your wedding party if you have had a small private ceremony or got married abroad. Equally, if you’re having a big bash over more than one day, I can cater for that too!
For a full day service, how will the day pan out?
Typically the day starts with preparation shots of both the groomsmen and bridal party. We then move onto photos of the ceremony, followed by formal shots and portaits of the bride and groom. Usually we’ll sneak off somewhere a bit more private so you can relax. Most couples enjoy this bit as it’s the only point in the day where they can take a breather and spend a few private moments together! From there on in, it’s relaxed shots of guests, the meal and speeches, before wrapping up with the first dance and some good old dancefloor action.
What do you charge?
My wedding packages start from £1100 and portrait sessions from £120. Email me at info@johnhopephotography.com for a package pricelist!
Are you willing to travel or do you only cover local weddings?
I am happy to travel any distance to photograph a wedding!
How do we book you?
Please get in touch via email or phone – details are on the contact page. I’m keen to hear about what you have planned! I generally recommend we meet for a coffee to discuss your plans for the big day, following which you can decide whether you wish to book my services. A deposit is required to confirm a booking.
Will we meet you face to face before the wedding?
Yes of course. Unless long distance makes it a problem I would expect to meet a couple at least twice before a wedding. First up there’s an initial meeting as explained in the question above. Following that, all wedding packages include a ‘pre-wedding shoot’. This will either be at your venue, or can be at another spot you like or that has a special meaning to you. So we might got for a walk or visit a local beauty spot perhaps.
This shoot serves a few purposes. It helps us get to know one another and allows us to discuss the sort of posed shots and styles you like. It will also mean you’ll be more relaxed and hopefully filled with confidence when I start taking pictures on the big day. Most people have never been professionally photographed before their wedding so the pre-wedding shoot will help you get used to the experience and to relax and be natural in front of the camera. Finally, all included in the package, you will get a selection of the photos I take on the day, which act as nice engagement shots!
On the day, will it just be you in attendance?
By default it will just be me there, although in some circumstances I may choose to use an assistant if I feel the logistics of the wedding are such that I can’t provide adequate coverage on my own. Whilst most clients consider the coverage I provide to be ample, I do offer the option for you to request an extra photographer to give you a larger number of photos for an additional fee.
Do you have a photobooth?
Hell yeah! This is available for your wedding as optional add-on at no additional cost. Don’t go to the extra expense of hiring one, use mine! I have a burgundy velvet curtain backdrop and a lovely gold gilt frame for people to pose in. Most couples provide props like hats, wigs, feather boas, moustaches on sticks etc. for a bit of extra fun. I generally schedule in an hour of the evening where I set up the booth and capture some awesome shots of your friends and family giving it their best ‘blue steel’. Check out the ‘JHP Photobooth’ gallery on he Gallerys page for an idea of what to expect.
What if the weather’s bad?
This is England so of course I’m ready and will make sure you get great photos whatever the weather. Despite common pre-conceptions, it doesn’t have to be a glorious sunny day to get great outdoor shots and I’m just as comfortable working indoors if the heavens do open!
Will our photos be in colour or black and white?
I use Photoshop to subtly edit images to reach the finished product which includes converting some to black and white. You will receive a mix of black and white and colour photos. Please view my galleries for typical examples of what to expect.
Can we print our own photos?
You will receive a full set of high resolution images and full rights to print and re-produce them for personal usage as you wish.
Who owns the copyright to the photos?
Whilst I grant you rights to reproduce the photos pretty much to your hearts content, I retain the actual image copyright. This essentially means that only I may reproduce the images for commercial gain and is basically so that I can use the photos for promotional purposes, such as on my website, unless we agree otherwise.
When will we get our photos?
I aim to get your photos to you on disc within a month of the wedding. Your photo book album will follow on after that.
What can we expect from the album?
I will personally design your photobook, laying out your photos to tell the story of the day. They will be presented in a high quality, hard back, ‘coffee table’ book which I get printed by a specialist company based in Holland. I can of course show you sample books so you can see what you’ll be getting. Before going to print I will send you a layout of how the book will look for your approval. You may then make up to 20 photo substitutions from the images on your disc to make sure all the key photos you want are included.
When will we receive our photobook?
I will start work on the album as soon I have delivered your photos to you on disc. Please allow up to 3 weeks for design. After your final sign off, it typically takes a further 2-3 weeks for the book to be printed and delivered from Europe.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to email me at info@johnhopephotography.com.
