A week ago the curtain fell on another amazing 365 days in my life as a wedding photographer. Amidst the nervous excitement building up to the imminent arrival of my second child and desperately trying to force through building work to be completed before that rather significant life event, I’ve had time to draw breath and reflect on the year that was 2015. Once again my work has taken me to the 4 corners of the UK and overseas. I’ve shed tears at words that have pulled hard at my heart, I’ve been swept up in the elation of special moments I’ll never forget and yes, I might have been dragged into more than one dance off too! I’ve made some special new friends and have enjoyed the privilege of capturing the weddings of some old ones. I’ve been treated to no fewer than 7 outdoor ceremonies (keep ’em coming!), have been trapped with a bride and groom in a sub-zero sleet squall half a mile from shelter (without a coat – idiot!) and I’ve witnessed a wedding finish with all the guests in the swimming pool at 3am! It’s not a bad job….
2015 saw the launch of The Wedding Creatives website – a collection of the best UK wedding photographers – that I was humbled to be asked to be part of. It was also the year I started teaching at workshops as part of the crazily talented Rock Your Shot team. Looking back, I’m proud of what I’ve achieved and have has an amazing time in the process.
The fulfilment of what I do is the sum of multiple parts and quite simply nothing makes my job as good as it is more than my awesome couples. When I say I’ll come out of the year with new friends I really mean it. It’s so important to me to shoot for couples who get what I do and who I connect with and like as people. I really do feel it brings out the best in me, makes my job hugely enjoyable and hopefully as an end result produces pictures they will love. So to all the couples who voted Hope in 2015, THANK YOU. Thanks also to the varied bunch of crazy wedding photographers who I’m lucky to call my friends. I’m looking forward to more inspiration, flaming zombies, side splitting laughter and awesomeness this year! And last but not least massive love and thanks to my little (soon to be bigger) family. Whilst running your own business brings a degree of flexibility, being a wedding photographer does mean I’m away a lot of Saturdays which isn’t always easy. The support I get from you is incredible and I promise to set aside time to make some special memories of our own this year.
So before I get any more soppy, let’s get on with some photos. I’m absolutely buzzing for 2016 but before we move forward let’s just take a quick moment to look back. Here is my Best of 2015. Thanks for dropping by to check it out…
